Digital Quilt: Patch Example

I've attached a sample patch of the digital quilt you all helped me work on the other week. This piece is going to be just a fraction of the eventual final product. There are twenty separate images used to make just this patch. Eventually, I plan to print this on a thin paper and fold it like an NYC Metro map between two black-cardboard summary cards. The idea is to obscure the individual pictures by the massive amount of them, forming something more like a whole picture, rather than a collage.

Today's class

I hope that everyone sees this before class today; if not, I think it will be fine.

Bring something to draw with, and something on which to draw. This will be an exercise in communication. We can break in our new work space, I think.

Reminder:

Please e-mail me the pictures from last Tuesday's workshop. I'd like to compile them and do a write up by this Tuesday before class.

Jess' elevator image (Spring 09)

Siddhartha by the River

"But today he only saw one of the river's secrets, one that gripped his soul. He saw that the water continually flowed and flowed and yet it was always there; it was always the same and yet every moment it was new. Who could understand, conceive this? He did not understand it; he was only aware of a dim suspicion, a faint memory, divine voices."
